We are a family-owned and operated business. Tony and Karen Baker are the co-owners and operators with lots of help from family members and some great friends.

We take pride in our clean, comfortable auction house and have grown rapidly since opening at the end of 2013. We've been blessed with some of the greatest customers anywhere.

The "Golden Rule" is our guiding business principle. Our auctions are fast-paced, exciting and FUN! We strive to maintain a family atmosphere and profanity and/or alcohol are not permitted or tolerated.

You are invited to come join us at one of our auctions and experience for yourself one of the most enjoyable and entertaining ways to spend an evening.

NC License #9415

Tony grew up in nearby Dunn, NC and graduated from Wayne Community College. He has lived in Wayne County for the past 35 years and worked for the US Post Office in Pikeville for over 20 years.

He and his wife Karen traveled all over North Carolina visiting auctions over the years as a fun pastime and decided in 2012 to start their own business. Since obtaining his auctioneer license, he has worked tirelessly to renovate the current Pikeville location and grow Whistle Stop.

Karen Baker     Co-Owner

Karen has lived in Pikeville for her entire life. She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and earned a degree in Nursing from Wayne Community College. She has served the community tirelessly as a nurse at Wilson Hospital for over 30 years.

At the auction, Karen does a little bit of everything. Throughout the week, you can find her setting up displays, organizing, cleaning, and doing whatever else is needed. On Friday nights, she is usually found in the concession stand and helping out on the floor.
Sheldon Denning

Sheldon is the brother of Karen and is also a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School.

Sheldon is the hot dog master and helps Karen run the concession stand on Friday nights.
Amber & Daniel Stancil

Amber is the daughter of Tony and Karen Baker and is a graduate of UNC Wilmington. She works in nearby Wilson and is married to Daniel Stancil, a graduate of East Carolina University. He also works in Wilson as an engineer. They are expecting a baby boy in July of 2018, so we can't wait to have him join us on Friday nights soon!

Amber usually works the sign-in and check-out line, so she is the first smiling face to greet you. Daniel helps with the heavy lifting and works on the floor.
